Yet-to-be-decided: It is already 2005, hard to believe that much time has passed by so quickly. I feel like the last year I just passed off and walked through without much thought(kinda like I used to do in English class back in highschool, when I would just BS my way through term papers)...(I'm sure I'll come up with something to add to this later...TBC) |

| Entry III: The Fantastically Super-Long Entry |
[Jul. 11th, 2004|04:50 am] |
| Entry III: The Fantastically Super-Long Entry | (note:Please pardon my spelling on this entry)
Limbo: Well, it seems much time has passed since I last contributed to my journal. I feel as if this is my return from Limbo. Limbo, according to my sources is: 1: the state of being disregarded or forgotten -or- 2: an imaginary place for lost or neglected things. I think Limbo is also the place your socks go when you can't find the matching pair, or that important paper you can't find isn't where you left it... ...After being away so long I suppose I should recall some of what has happened over all this time. As I recall, a week before my finals were due, my computer decided it wanted to blow up. To be honest it didn't really "blow up", what happened to the best of my knowledge was that my power source some how sent an electric shock to my hard drive, causeing a flame to shoot out of my hard drive. Can you imagine turning on your computer and then seeing a one inch flame come out of your hard drive? Unfortunatly, my hard drive had to be replaced, and I had lost everything I was working on for my finals... ...I feel like this set of finals really took a lot of time away. I pretty much spent two whole weeks of my life, focusing on nothing but Final Projects,Final Exams, and such. I think it is really sad in a way, that I'm spending so much time on something just to get it done...but for what, for a grade, or for a degree!?...
The Return...to School: Now then, after completion of my finals I have had two full weeks off school, two weeks which ends today, two weeks which I was sick for most of. Even though I was sick It really was still better than going to school. My new classes start this Monday; I'm actually looking forward to finishing off this new set, not because I like the classes but because it will probably be my second to last sememster EVER...
Movie Reviews: One thing I wanted to do with this journal was to review the movies as I saw them, partly so I could look back a year from now and see if I agree, and partly just to write down what I thought of them. So I'm going to make up for all the movies I saw but didn't review:
Van Helsing: I was really excited about this one before I saw it. I suppose that contributed to his downfall in my mind. I walked into this hoping for a simply fun movie, I wasn't expecting a great plot or great acting but at very least a good movie. This movie does have some good points, probably the best being the neato-action scenes. They are exciting and Helsing does have a lot of cool Batman-like toys. The special effects in this movie I think are both good and bad. As far has bringing the world of Van Helsing to life and creating a visualy realistic scene they effects are great, but the one thing I found them lacking in is in the battle with the two giant beast, it just seemed...wrong. The thing I found most annoying about this movie was how many cliché pharses are spoken in this movie. I remeber when I heard the first one, I thought to myself I would count them, I think I counted around 10 in about the first half of the movie. I wish I had them all listed just to show how many are used. I really don't want to go on about this movie, I'll just say that in conclusion, Van Helsing was not a bad movie, just an extremely dissapointing and over-hyped one.
Troy: I really didn't know what to think going into this one. I'm not really a fan of Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, or long-drawn out war movies; this movie has all those things and I still found myself enjoying it. When thinking about the story of Troy, there are really two directions you could take. One being a purely historal version of what possible happened based on facts from the ancenit city; or two a fanitiful verison based of Greek Mythology and The Iliad. The movie kinda borrows from both leaving it up to the viewers dicression. I found this movie to be a refeshing take on a war movie. The acting was good, the special effects were not over-used (which was nice) and the story was solid. The one thing which I didn't like about this one was the fact that they could have just named it "Achilles." Granted he was probably the major figure in the story, I felt as if there was more a story to tell than just Achilles. They start to do this towards the beginning of the movie, yet slowly move more and more to Achille's point of view. All in all this was still a good movie, I really enjoyed it, I would have even gladly paid to see it(well if I didn't work at a movie theater). I very confidently call this movie: The first good movie of the summer."
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: While I have not read the books yet, I always look forward to these movies. I had heard from fans of the books that this was the best book in the series. As I had been told the story in this one brakes away from the format of the last two movies/books. Everything I disliked about this movie I tend to blame of the director. My major problems with this one is, you have about two hours to sum up the book, while still making a good watchable movie. I think it falls short here, both the bus ride and the griffion ride lasted far too long for this movie. The other things that bothered me about this movie, was how many things were changed from the book(or so I'm told). Apparently many same things where changed to make the movie more "exciting" like the part were Harry and Hermione are "fighting" the tree(well not really fighting it but you know), and the order of things that happened. Don't get me wrong though, I really liked this movie. The plot itself I thought was really good, and the actors seemed to show much more "character" in there performances. Even with all my complaints, any Harry Potter movie is far better that most others. Before I finish this review off I have to bring attention to the worst part of this movie, the ending. It is just...lame. "Harry potter gets on his broom stick and flys off to who knows where...whoosh..Freeze frame on Harry making goofy smile, keep it on screen for 5 seconds..roll credits, cut print. Okay, I'm being too harsh here, I truely liked this movie, really I did(Infact I liked it so much I went out and got the first book...I've yet to finish it though:o).
Shrek 2: When I first heard that they wanted to do a sequal to Shrek I thought it was a pretty bad idea. However, after watching this I'd have to say I was wrong. I have a hard to decided rather this movie is better or worse than the origanal, I think by getting all the same voice actors, it seems to work almost as an extention of the first, it adds to it rather than takes away from it(unlike many sequals). So I'd have to say I thought Shrek was pretty good, if you liked the first one this one is pretty much the same kinda stuff. I won't complain about his one(you get pretty much what you expect), plus I love the giant Ginerbread man.
Spider-Man 2: Alright, I'm going to state here that I'm a big Spidey fan. I've read the comics, played the games, watched to shows..I've even seen the cheesey 1970's live action movie. Going into this one I had high expectations, and I can't say that I've been dissappointed. This movie follows the comics pretty closely, mostly the story line from "Spider-Man no more." Which is referanced several times in the movie. I'd have to say the best part about Spider-Man 2 is Doctor Octopus, the actor is great and they capture the character of the villian almost just like he was in the comics. The special effects are much more well blended than in the first film. I don't have a problem with Tobey as Spider-Man he fits the part well, however as with the first film I just don't like Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane. As an actor she's good, she reads the lines believably, but I just don't see her as the MJ I remeber from the comics. I think this is partly to blame on the writer but I feel it was a poor choice to cast her with the part. Speaking of the writer, one thing I did not like about this film(as with the last one) is why Spider-Man's mask has to come off so much. At one point in this movie a train full of 50 or so people see Spider-Man's(or should I say Peter Parker's) face. I just thought it wasn't nessisary, yes it's nice to see the city people love Spidey, but they did that in the first film by throwing rocks at Green Gobiln didn't they? Well, this is still a great movie, perhaps not the "best super-hero movie ever" as Ebert said, but certainly one of the best. There is also a nice little set up for Spider-Man 3 towards the end of the film, it's just a shame we have to wait till 2007 to see it.
Insomnia: It is well into the late night/early morning and yet I can not sleep. It's been a while since I havent' been able to sleep. Whatever the case I think I'll ramble on a bit(seeing as how this is the "Fantastily Super-Long Entry"). Wondering as the reason for my sleeplessness I decieded "why not find out the cause of it". So I looked up some useful(or possibly somewhat useless)facts about Insomnia... Insomia from what I can find is "a very common sleep disorder that keeps you awake night after night and can lead to sleep deprivation". In this since I guess I don't have Insomia seeing as how it has only been one night, but lets continue shall we... The symptoms of Insomia seem to be:
*Difficulty getting to sleep and staying asleep: (This is hard to say rather I have this or not while some nights this is true, other nights I'd say it's the complete opposite, so I'd have to concluded I don't really suffer from this very much)
*Waking up tired: (Now I find this interesting, if you can't sleep how do you wake up?! Anywho, I hate waking up a lot of the time, but while I'll dislike it I don't really think I feel "unrested" so to speak.)
*Difficulty concentrating: (humm....I'm having a difficult time concentrating or rather or not I have difficulty concentrating. Seriously, though I don't feel like I have a hard time Concentrating, but as of the last 6 months or so I'd say I have a hard time Focusing like I used to, rather or not that is concidered the same as Concentrating is debatable but I tend to think not)
*Irritability: (um..nope I don't think I am.)
*Bloodshot eyes: (I don't think I have this either, if I do let me know.)
*Daytime sleepiness: (This is sometimes true, but it all depends on when I slept and got up, my scedual is all over the place.) Okay now we come to the causes of Insomia...
*Stress or anxiety: (I wouldn't say I have either of these, though at times I stay awake analyzing various events, religion, politics, people, or things that happen in my life, but I don't consider those things I worry about, they are more like things I enjoying analyzing)
*Depression: (Well I would hope not...If I am I certainly don't know that I am)
*Chronic disorders: (Agian, I would hope I would know if I had some medical problem, but none come to mind)
*Medications: (When I was sick I took some medication, but I haven't taken any today)
*Poor eating habits: (I ussaully just eat when I get hungry, I do eat late at night some times, but I've never thought of that as keeping me awake, I often sleep better after eating)
*Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol: (Well, I don't Drink Alcohol or Smoke nicotine....but I do love my Dr. Pepper, which is full of Caffenine. If anything this might be the most likely to cause insomia for me, if I had to pick a reason)
*Lack of exercise: (While I'm not on any kind of programed exercise schedual, I stay pretty busy just walking around from place to place. I when ushering all you do is walk for 8 hours or so)
There you have it. Perhaps this will help someone reading this down the road, seeing as how if your actually able to read this intire thing, than your probably looking for something to put you to sleep...
I applogize for the unnessicarly long length of this entry, I was a having trouble sleeping so I thought I would finally add something to my journal. Hopefully whenever I start school Monday I get myself of a regular schedual, and perhaps I will find more time to post nice small entries on a more regular basisis. I guess I'll get some sleep now, I think I'm finally tired after writting this entire thing. |

Episode 8: Ogre Ears Episode Summary:
The Shrek promotion had been talked about for some time now, and when I arrived at 9:00am I was somewhat sure what to expect. When I entered the theater I could see that many of the employees had already been there a while. I went to clock in and then found Robert so I could see what he wanted me to do to help set up. I was assigned the task of filling these tiny cupcake cover looking things with one Shrek Gummy Fruit Snack(something that I would say, many times this day). As I proceeded to fill the trays with Gummy Treats, Jordan came by to help, and shortly after both Cody and Todd joined in the Shrek fun... ...Around 10:30am all the costumers started to flood the building, and all of the employees were given our "jobs" for the promotion. Todd and Cody received the task of taking pictures of the kids by the Shrek standiee. This didn't go as easly as thought, the camera seemed to have a bit of a problem at first, however it was soon fixed before too long. I was given the job of giving out the Gummy Treats, which I had grow accustom to. Tori and Racheal, both dressed as characters, helped hand out part of the gingerbread man, while greating customers leaving the theater. We unfortunatly didn't have someone to be Shrek, Matt Bunch did wear the Shrek mask for a bit, while he was at Guest Servies... ...You would think sitting down for the whole day handing out Snacks to customers would have been a pretty easy day. While it was easy, the time seems to travel incredibly slow. I recall thinking it was 1:00 or maybe even 2:00, but when I checked my watch it seemed to only be 11:30. After hours of Shrek excitement, it was 3:00pm, and I was allowed to be sent home(considering there were 2 more cash counters). I went with Todd to get something to eat at Taco Bell, and then left for home... ...You would think the episode would end here, but there was much more happening this day. As Todd would later call the night "the worst night ever" as Shrek 2 would make over 104.3million dollars, but that is another story, for another time... |

Episode 4: Untitled (Thursday Movie Night) Episode Summary:
The episode starts out with Cody approaching the door at a mysterious apartment. As the door opens it is relived that it is my apartment. Cody asks me to sign over my Saturday shift and I do so. Cody asks if I'll be going to the screenings, and I reply "I think so, but I'm not sure." Cody then says that I should go, and then hurries off on a whirlwind adventure at the Yhbor Muvico. Along the way he crosses paths with Bobby, Ingrid, Dalton and Sandra. There is even a small cameo by Brandon, but only a short one. After a series of small mis-adventures they sit down to watch the screening "Godsend." As there movie starts the episode changes back to my point of view as I met Todd at the seven-eleven, where we loaded up on movie snacks before the show. As we entered Starlight we had a bit of time before the screening...
...Todd and I ran into Josh as he was preparing to close usher. As we were talking, Matt came along and then shortly after Johnny. Todd was confronted about the origin of the "Pizza Pail." For those unaware a pail is a watertight cylindrical vessel, open at the top and fitted with a handle, also known as a bucket(but Pizza Bucket just doesn't sound right, does it). After that little conversation Todd and I decided to make our way towards the theater. As we passed the lobby we were greeted by some more cameos. Jessica, Shelley, and Matthew Meeks, had all arrived bearing doughnuts. After unsuccessfully trying to persuade me into watching "Bad Girls" instead of "Godsend," I progressed to the appropriate theater...
...Right before the start of the movie, Gilbert(the projection manager) decided to join us. The trailers started, the first was a "Coke a' cola" commercial with some lady singing handing out cola to total strangers. Todd joked about how he wouldn't drink some soda from this strange lady singing. About this time Matt arrived and joined us at the top row. Throughout the movie I could hear Matt and Todd comment about the shocking moments that kept jumping out. I even recall a high pitched yell when the lady knocks of the car window, although I am not 100% sure where it was coming from...
...After the movie, we once again meet up with Josh, and this time he was with his girlfriend (Lauren). Todd once again explained the origin of the pizza pail, and at some point there was some humorous moment(however I can't seem to recall exactly what it was about). Todd, Matt, Josh, Lauren, and I all walked to the front parking lot, where are story came full circle as Cody drove up along with Bobby and Ingrid. The 8 of us talked for a bit and then we went our separate ways. I drove Matt to his car(which was in the back) and talked to him shortly...
...Meanwhile in Arbor Green, Todd makes a shocking discovery, his wallet is missing. He attempts to go back to Muvico only to find nothing, in panic he thinks of where it could possible be. So as a last resort, Todd calls up the seven-eleven. The phone is answered by an Indian gentleman, and there is a rather long communication problem that ends with Todd discovering the location of his wallet. He sets out to retrieve it, tired from the experience... |

| Entry II: Birthdays, Lost Dreams, and Clones |
[Apr. 30th, 2004|02:14 am] |
| Entry II: Birthdays, Lost Dreams and Clones |
Birthdays: Today we celebrated my sister's birthday(which is actually tomorrow, but we picked today because I will be working tomorrow). This years theme was "Hello Kitty." Although my sister claims to have always liked "Hello Kitty" I haven't noticed this trend until about 2 months ago. I must say that I find this an improvement apoin the whole Punk movement, which I was expecting. I am now thinking the more "Hello Kitty" the better. The party went well and there were a few pictures taken of the whole thing....
Lost Dreams: Okay, here is todays beef. As a child I grew up loving to watch cartoons(as I am sure may kids my age did). Well, as a young child I made up my mind of what I wanted to be when I grew up, an Animator. I had always enjoyed watching Classic Disney movies, and thought that would be the greatest job in the world. As time passed I came to the reality of what being an Animator would mean, drawing thousands and thousands of pictures. So my dream changed, I did not want to be the one drawing every frame of a movie, I wanted to design the characters and stories( there is a point to all this I'm about to get to)...
...The point of that little story leads me to this. Last night I was reading some new articles about something I had heard of a little while ago. Roy Disney(Walt Disney's nephew) has left the Disney company. That in it self was somewhat strange I thought, but not a huge deal, until I read a bit more. It seems that over the past 5 or so years, Michael Eisner has been busy making a lot of changes to the company. I want get into much detail about the whole thing but the bottom line of all this is Disney closed its animation studios in both Florida and Paris. That is more than 200 animators just from the Florida studio. The reason for this, as stated by the Disney Company: "2D animation is Dead". Dead, 2D animation Dead! The art form that gave us great movies like "Aladdin" and "The Lion King," is no more. Well not entirely but at Disney, yes it is. The exactly reason gave for there logic behind this is that Disney claims "there's not interest in 2D movies anymore, the audience is much more open to 3D now days, and the sells show that." While I have to agree with part of that, I think the reason 2D movies have done so bad in the last couple of years is because of the stories, and they way they are making them. I mean come on, of course a movie like "Shrek" is going to do a lot better than Disney's latest movie about talking cows, but thats not because one was 3D and one was 2D. I can only think that this is a sad day when the Disney Company has decided to completely get rid of its 2D animation department, and replace it with a 3D animation department. Now I like 3D animation and all but why get rid of 2D. Does Disney not make enough money to pay 200 artist to continue on the tradition of what the company was originally started to create? I don't know exactly why this made me so mad, perhaps because of that little story stated above about my past, or maybe just the fact that something I thought was good is being destroyed. I just want to thank all those great folks at Disney today for destroying my childhood dream, THANKS GUYS:)...
Movie Review Godsend: You know most of the time when someone thinks, "hey that guy is dead, lets try to find a way to clone him" it is usually a bad idea. In the movie Godsend a family looses their only child, and they are informed by a Doctor that there is a way that they can have him back through cloning... ...You could stop right there and see where this is going(and for anyone that hasn't seen it I will try not to spoil anything in the movie). The whole story of this movie revolves around the parents relationship to their son, and the mystery as to why he is acting strangely after young Adam turns 8(the same age that the child first died at)...
...A few things here, what were these people thinking. I know they miss their son or whatnot but if you clone someone, they are not the same person. Yes they have the same DNA but so do twins, but I guess in strange movie land when you get cloned you keep all your old memories. Anyways, if your going to clone someone why name them the same thing if you don't want them to find out about the past...
...Well there are a lot of jumpy moments in this movie and at the end I was surprised it was only rated PG-13. As I said above I will not spoil it by giving anything way, I'll just say this. The movie was well done, with pretty good acting, great use of creepy music and sound effects, and a fairly good use of camera work. My only real dislike about this movie is the ending, and the "What did I get out of watching this" value. I found the ending to be simply a set up for a sequel in many ways, and (in my opion) just wasn't a great ending, however it did fit with the over all theme of the movie. As far as what I got out of this, well I have never been a big fan of these type of movies from the start, but I just didn't get much out of it, but I did learn one important fact: Don't clone people, it just never works out well in the movies. |

| Chronicles of the Muvico Show |
Episode 3: Another night at Steak n' Shake Episode Summary:
Another one of those Steak N' Shake Episodes(get used to them;). The day started out as normal, it was a Wednesday after school and I realized I had accumulated quiet a few messages over the past 3 days, 12 to be exact. After listening to a few rather humorous messages from Todd, I decided to give him a call. He answered (somewhat surprised, I think) informing me that he was in box and that it was a rather slow day. He attempted to help the following customers by putting me on his cell phone's speaker mode. This lead to an interesting conversation and even Matt D stopped by for part of the convo. I would say, it was like living in the 1920's and listening to a radio show...
...Fast forward to 10:15, when I got a call from Cody. We headed for Muvico to meet with Todd, and Matt. On the way I had a short discussion about political matters with Cody, and then talked a bit about his 60 hour work week. When we arrived at Muvico I saw George and talked to him for a bit then Cody called me aside for to tell me something. I was informed on some of the events going on at Yhbor, and then we speculated about the future of Starlight. At that time Todd had arrived, and we had a short talk with Gus, then headed to SnS....
...As the three of us entered the restaurant, I was surprised to see both Rusty and Corey making an appearance in todays episode. Rusty was our waiter, and he assured Todd there would be no "surprises" in his order this time. Matt D arrived soon after we ordered, and our food arrived rather quickly. While waiting we talked about several topics, including "the taste of water" and "which item would you take on survivor." Matt was able to get a humorous moment on his camera where Todd describes how he would annoy everyone on the island with a whistle. We also disscuded the possibility of a "Married with children" night. I honestly know very little of the show(at this time), but I'm sure it is entertaining considering it was on the air for more than 5 years. Corey came by and thanked Matt for coming to his theater performance, and then teased Cody a bit for not knowing about it. By this time it was getting a bit late, so we paid our bill and headed home....
Future Impressions or Events: None really, just a nice time hanging out with some good friends it was good to check up since I have been busy... ...Possible a Movie Night later next week... ...Cody might work my shift Saturday... |

| Entry I: Alpha |
[Apr. 29th, 2004|12:00 am] |
|
An Introduction:
Well after much thought I have actually decided to create this LIVEJOURNAL. I'm sure many of you doubt the longevity of this, however even if this is the last entry I still would not consider this a waste of time; I wouldn't think collecting ones' thoughts in writing ever is...
First off, I say welcome all. This is of course my first entry into this "Journal" and I hope that anyone that comes across it finds it at very least somewhat interesting. I will warn you all here that I often tend to word things in a longer way than they have to be, but I find this the best way I can do so...
Enter:
Considering this journal is about myself, I feel there is something about myself I should let everyone know, however nothing comes to mind that I think anyone would find of much interest. I guess that is just a result of my personality, hopefully throughout reading future entries it will help give enough insight to myself...
Cast of Characters (the people I know):
Coming soon!
Chronicles of the MuvicoShow:
Every now and then I will be adding several entries reguarding the events of the Co. Each Chronicle will be labeled and number separately from the rest of the journal. You can think of these as a summary of episodes that will eventually used in my book "Muvico and Me".
